Greenbrier School District Implements Motorola Concealed Weapons Detection System
Greenbrier, Arkansas–February 02, 2023 – Greenbrier School District began the use of the new Motorola Concealed Weapons Detection (CWD) system on January 30, 2023, which will provide enhanced student, staff, and visitor safety in the High School, Jr. High School, and Middle School campuses. The system is provided by Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions company. All system testing is completed, and staff have been trained. The Motorola CWD system is designed to keep weapons out of school. Greenbrier School District is the first district in Arkansas to install this next-generation school safety and security technology.
“Greenbrier School District is proud to announce that our district has implemented the Motorola Concealed Weapons Detection System,” said Mr. Scott Spainhour, Superintendent of Greenbrier School District. “This next-generation school safety and security system is powered by Artificial Intelligence and will provide our school district stakeholders the best-concealed weapons detection technology available.”.
Greenbrier School District purchased the Motorola Concealed Weapons Detection based on the following criteria; the system receives continual updates on new weapons threats on a daily basis via software pushes to the system, over time the system capabilities grow and are enhanced; localized threat detection, when the system spots a weapon, a red bounding box is placed on the subject's image where the weapon is located and displayed to staff via an iPad tablet; the system allows for a normal flow of foot traffic through the system avoiding lines; the system includes 4 Avigilon cameras, provides analytics and can readily integrate with local public safety agencies.
“I think the system is a wonderful thing because I know our students and staff are safer today than they were on Friday,” said Mr. Jason Miller, Jr. High Principal at the Greenbrier School District. “This was our first day using this system, and I sent around 600 kids through today, and we got them to class basically on time which will only get better as we use it every day. My biggest takeaway from this Concealed Weapons Detection system is that my students and staff are safer.”.
Arkansas Public Safety Solutions, a Little Rock, Arkansas system integrator was selected to build the Motorola Concealed Weapons Detection system based on the company’s experience, technical expertise, and its 85 years of successful public safety system design, integration, and service.
